| Indication | Induction of labour, stimulation of uterine contractions, postpartum period to prevent or treat secondary bleeding and adherent placental, treatment of incomplete abortion to obtain a more rapid expulsion in order to avoid secondary bleeding. |
| Dosage & Administration | Labor induction, stimulation of uterine contractions: Oxytocin infusion should be administered intravenously under adequate supervision. 1-5 IU is added to 500 ml physiological electrolyte solution or Dextrose 5% (intravenous fluids). Giving starts at 1 MU (1 MU = 0.0001 IU) per minute. In accordance with the effects obtained, the dose can be doubled every 30-45 minutes to achieve the threshold of the intestine. Postpartum period, to prevent or treat secondary bleeding and placental adheren: 2-5 IU intramuscular injection or intravenous infusion at a sufficient dose. Treatment of incomplete abortion to obtain a more rapid expulsion in order to avoid secondary bleeding: 2-5 IU intramuscular injection every 30-60 minutes or as an intravenous infusion at a sufficient dose. |
